Unemployment Empty Unemployment

You could half it in a few weeks cut off all social security for a claiment who refuses 2 job offers, There's genuine unemployment in some areas (In North England) but in the south it's a wash with people who won't accept a job because it's "beneath them" mainly graduates and these people pick up a lot of cash without telling anybody if you catch my drift. Most Employers will say they're short staffed. You offer the unemployed a job in dish washing or street sweeping they'd be straight off. Modern Large countries can have as much unemployment as they're willing to pay for in social security. No politicians have the guts to do anything about it because doing this would be an instant vote loser.

Agree or not? How would you deal with unemployment?

By doing nothing. As you highlighted earlier, the problem with trying to remedy the situation is thwarted by the simple fact it'd be a vote loser. Therefore, the only solution would be a one-party state. We all know how that tends to work out.

If people get desperate enough they'll do just about anything. There will always be lazy people wanting "free money", but there will also always be people that refuse to take charity and genuinely strive to get a job, no matter what it is.

There are several people with college degrees working alongside me at Wal-Mart, and I hear about others with Masters degrees or even higher.

There really is no easy solution to fixing the economy. You can't simply cut Social Security and unemployment, because there are a large amount of people that genuinely need these systems to survive day by day. I do think that acceptance into things like unemployment and welfare programs needs to be monitored a little more closely, to make sure people are actually trying to improve their lives and not just coast by on government assistance.

I didn't suggest cutting Social security off completely.

I was mainly referring to people that I see on TV.
